ABNF

Acronym for Augmented Backus-Naur Form. A formal syntax specification language widely utilized in Internet communication protocols, markup definitions, and computing specifications to establish unambiguous grammar rules.

Standard metalanguage applied by the IETF to define RFC syntax rules. Its format is similar to EBNF with specific protocol-oriented differences.

Ad request

An Ad request is counted each time your website or mobile application requests an advertisement unit to be served by an ad network, regardless of whether a creative is successfully rendered.

ADSL

Acronym for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. A legacy broadband telecommunications technology utilizing conventional copper twisted-pair telephone lines to transmit high-speed data.

Traditional voice telephony uses signals along a pair of copper wires at frequencies between 25 and 3,400 Hertz. ADSL uses these same copper wires in parallel across 255 frequency bands reaching 1.1 Megahertz—well above standard voice frequencies.

Joseph Lechleider, who invented ADSL in 1988, noticed that when upstream and downstream speeds were identical (SDSL), signal interference was high and data rates remained very low. By making the connection asymmetric, he enabled data transmission of up to 16 Mbps, fueling the rise of the consumer Internet, digital television, and VoIP.

Affordance

The property or design feature of an object or digital interface that intuitively indicates how it should be used. In modern UX/UI design, strong affordances eliminate cognitive friction, guiding visitors effortlessly toward conversion.

Al-kwarizmi

9th-century Persian polymath and mathematician (783–850). Celebrated as the father of algebra, his seminal treatises introduced Hindu-Arabic numerals to the Western world, and the word 'algorithm' derives directly from the Latinized form of his name.
